DIY: how to make a Shabby Chic shelf

Sono nata dall’unione di qualche pezzo di legno,

I was born from the combination of some pieces of wood,

tavole in massello di abete tagliate da un qualsiasi fai-da-te ma rifinite e sagomate da mani amorevoli desiderose di vederle presto assemblate.

Prima ancora sono stata concepita, nata da un’idea e trasformata in disegno. Il disegno che mi rappresenta deve contenere tutte le  informazioni, misure, spessori, indicazioni di fori e intagli, la precisione evita grossolani errori!

Before that, I was conceived, and then the idea was transformed into a drawing. The design that represents me must contain all the information, sizes, thicknesses, indications of holes and notches, precision at this point prevents big mistakes!

E poi seghetto alternativo, raspe e avvitatore, le parti che mi compongono stanno assieme con colla vinilica e viti da legno. Et voilà, In una mattinata sono pronta!

And then jigsaw, rasps and screwdriver (if electrical it’s even easier), the parts i’m formed by go together with glue and wood screws.
Et voilà, In one morning I’m ready!

Ora posso essere dipinta, del colore che più ti piace, colore ad acqua facile da stendere con pennello a mano, una, due, tre passate al massimo. Se mi vuoi in stile Shabby, la prima mano di colore è in tinta più scura, stese le campiture successive qualche colpo di cartavetro su spigoli e parti più soggette a usura assicura l’effetto desiderato. Una bella passata di cera in pasta e sono pronta per essere inserita in un qualsiasi ambiente, poichè la mia destinazione è “in the garden” prima di procedere alla tinteggiatura proteggimi con generosa stesura di impregnante trasparente all’acqua, potró accogliere i tuoi vasi di fiori e con il trascorrere del tempo diventare più autentica e bella, proprio come piace a te!

Now I can be painted, in the color you like most, water-color easy to apply with hand brush, one, two, three coats at most. If you want me in Shabby style, the first coat should be in a darker color, then after two or three more layers of the shade you originally chose, give some strokes of sandpaper on the edges and on the parts more subject to usury and the desired effect will be ensured.
